Extending the Line Photograph #7, Linear Drawing 1 #10, Thread, Nails and Permanent Marker on Wall

A site-specific work where works from Linear Drawings 1 and Extending the Line: Photographs series were installed in a way that was conditioned by the architectural site itself.

Extending the Line Photograph #7 is a digital photographic work, and part of a broader series aimed to capture the fleeting spatial conditions, where light and shadow generated geometric configurations across the architectural elements of a residential space. Emerging from a particular way of looking, framing and composing, the built composition was presented here as an abstract form, encountered through fragments, tonal variations and shifting geometries.

Another work, Linear Drawing #10, is a composition from the series Linear Drawings 1, where it explored mark making through patient, repetitive engagement with lines. Using ink on paper, the work created subtle shifts in tone and rhythm, allowing movement to emerge slowly through the viewer’s gaze rather than through physical motion.

Here, the on-site intervention expanded upon the subtlety of bodily movement within its architectural surroundings through an interplay of light and shadow. The primary intention was to bring focus upon the very experience of its constituent works rather than merely displaying them. Lines from the photographs extend into the surrounding space  as their spatial extensions through the use of threads, nails and permanent marker on the walls. Light and shadow became an active part of the language. Rays of light reflected by the glass surface of frames and bouncing off the walls resulted in interesting moments witnessed through such spatial and minimal arrangement. Together, these dynamic interventions of drawing, light, architecture, and space formed an interconnected spatial experience, where a viewer’s bodily engagement became central to activate the architectural space, thereby shifting embodied perceptions associated in the due process.
