Drawing space started with a question: what if one could move into the drawing?

Drawing in Space is an ongoing site-specific drawing project based on the spatial narrative of the site, focusing on the question of perception through lines and forms in the built environment, transforming architecture into an active participant. Composed of thread-based spatial drawings, the work generates shifting geometries that evolve with the viewer’s movement, turning observation into embodied interaction. Guided by self-devised systems of arithmetic, codes, and structured instructions, the work integrates geometry, line, and light to give form to spatial rhythm.

The site-specific drawing for When is Space? was part of a larger group exhibition on art & architecture. The architecture is built on a horizontal plain with multiple galleries, an amphitheatre, corridors, gardens, and open spaces, designed by Charles Correa. Its uniqueness lies in the overlap of different structures from different positions. The work was in response to this and the structural narrative of the gallery, inviting the viewer to engage from different positions. As one moves, the 3-dimensional drawing on the wall shifts and a completely different image emerges, following the concept of parallax.
