Notes on Movement: Linear Drawing 1
Suite of 4 Drawings
2012
Graphite on Fax Paper Roll
Notes on Movement: Linear Drawing 1 is a slow animated drawing in four parts. The drawing starts with a first base drawing in a horizontal field, which slowly rotates frame by frame, ending in the horizontal field itself. Within the rotation of the base drawing, three positions -right angle, vertical and left angle- anchor three different drawings/ bands departing from those positions.
The scrolls are marked with drawings in a slowly mutating linear pattern. It has frame-by-frame animated movement, which is only visible after walking past some frames. Each band starts and ends on the same frame, which frames it on a self-contained loop and has an effect of an optical illusion, along with spaces of rest and pauses.
The marks in these works explore drawing as an index of duration through repetition.
